How to take pictures of your 4-6 year olds

It’s a bit easier to handle kids aged four to six. While they’re still not the most patient subjects, you can instruct them with activities they’ll enjoy.

Here are some instructions that I use with children of this age, depending on the theme of the shoot: • Draw something for mommy • Play something nice on this instrument. • Pick some flowers for a beautiful bouquet for mommy.

Sometimes they might need extra motivation from their parents. But most of the time, they’ll enjoy the photo shoot if you give them a bit of a challenging but achievable task. Praise them too, and they’ll find joy in the activities for a longer time.

I enjoy working with this age group the most because they’re endearing and act spontaneously. They don’t pay too much attention to the camera and can take some directions.
